‌Recently, at the American Heart Association's(AHA) Joint Hypertension 2018 Scientific Sessions, our very own Dr Karla Neves was presented with the Paul Dudley White International Scholar Award.

Only one award is available in the UK each year and it is given to the author of the highest rated abstract. Her paper is titled: 'Endothelial-Derived Microparticles as Biomarkers and Mediators of Endothelial Cell Injury in VEGF Inhibitor-Treated Cancer Patients: Implications in Hypertension'. The full abstract can be found by clicking this link.

Karla talks to us about her achievement in the below video. You can also access the video here.

Karla was also one of six finalists for the Hypertension Early Carrier Award which was also at the AHA Joint Hypertension 2018 Scientific Sessions. She may not have won the award although to be a part of the six finalists is a massive achievement.

They also won the Onsite Poster Competition for their study ‘Role of TRPM2 in redox signalling and vascular biology in hypertension’  with Rhéure Alves-Lopes poster (presented by Karla).
