Image of Patrick Mark‌Dr Paddy Mark organised and chaired the inaugural NHS Research Scotland Renal Research Day on 29th September, held in Perth. This allowed senior investigators from across the Scottish Universities, Consultant Nephrologists, Transplant Surgeons and Research nurses to hear updates on research strategy from representatives of NHS Research Scotland and Chief Scientist’s Office Scotland.

The event featured talks from Paddy, Dr Bryan Conway, Lorna Marson, Prof Neil Turner from the University of Edinburgh, Dr Harry Marks from Aberdeen and Dr Samira Bell from Dundee, amongst others.

There was a real buzz in the room about future collaborations in renal research in Scotland ‌and the possibility of sharing experience in trials, epidemiology and basic science related to renal disease. And there were a few tweets to keep it 21st century.
