Dr Michael Green

  • Research Fellow (MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit)

Biography

Michael obtained a B.Sc. in Psychology and then an M.A. in Social Research at the University of Leeds. He joined the MRC/CSO Social & Public Health Sciences Unit at the University of Glasgow in July 2006 to work on the longitudinal Twenty-07 Study where the focus of his work has been on social inequalities in health, especially mental health, across the life course.

More recently, Michael completed a CSO funded doctoral fellowship (2011-2014) looking at the influence of socioeconomic factors in how problems with smoking, drinking and mental health develop over the transition to adulthood, and is now working as a Research Associate on the Measurement and Analysis of Socio-economic Inequalities in Health programme at the MRC/CSO Social & Public Health Sciences Unit. He also acts as co-convenor for the unit’s lunchtime seminar series.

Research interests

Current research interests include: inequalities over the lifecourse; smoking and drinking behaviours; mental health; youth transitions; development; and causal modelling using observational data.
