Biography

Lauren Elsie White graduated from the University of Abertay Dundee with a BA(Hons) in Media, Culture and Society in 2014, followed by a MRes in Social Research at the University of Aberdeen in 2015. Lauren joined the Unit in 2015 to undertake a PhD examining parents’ and stakeholders’ views regarding the regulation of online advertising of high in fat, sugar and salt (HFSS) products to children.  This doctoral project was submitted in January 2019, and Lauren then began a one year MRC Transition Fellowship focusing on sports sponsorship by HFSS product companies. Lauren is currently part of the Policy programme, and is pursuing research that examines the role of commercial determinants of health in childhood obesity.
