Hazel Marzetti graduated with Distinction in her MSc in Educational Research from the University of Edinburgh in 2016, studying part-time alongside her full-time job. Prior to embarking upon her PhD she worked in educational research for five years focusing on assessment and feedback in higher education, and the experiences of LGBT+ students at university in Scotland. Her PhD looks at the influence of offline and online communities on young LGBT+ people’s mental health and wellbeing, which has stemmed from her voluntary role as a youth work assistant, working with young trans people in Edinburgh. As part of this project she is interested in looking at ways that queer theory and feminist theory can be used to strengthen one another. She is supervised by Professor Lisa McDaid and Professor Rich Mitchell.
