2018 was a Milestone Year for the MRC/CSO Social and Public Health Sciences Unit.

For the past 20 years we have been supported by joint core funding from the Medical Research Council and Chief Scientist Office, building on the legacy of our research dating back to 1955.

The Unit has developed an international reputation for scientific excellence and innovation for public health gain. Our research has advanced thinking, developed new methodologies and approaches, improved practice, influenced policy development and decision-making, and impacted on the health and wellbeing of individuals and populations – both at home and across the globe.

We continue to work to improve health and reduce inequalities through the study of social influences on health and wellbeing, building on our research expertise to tackle the challenges ahead.
