HEHTA was invited to host a public engagement stand at the University of Glasgow Researchers’ Conference, in the Kelvin Hall on 12 May 2017. The stands were intended to demonstrate ‘how to do public engagement’, with some deconstructing of activities and examples of what works and what is not so successful when trying to engage the public at science shows and festivals.
HEHTA were able to demonstrate their trade-off activity, ‘The Health Minister’s Dilemma’, which invites the public to act as healthcare budgeting decision-makers, presented with a real-world trade-off/decision-making task. The afternoon was an opportunity for an interesting exchange of ideas and experiences around public engagement in research.
