Promoting our alcohol-focussed research, the team and collaborators from NHS Scotland set up stall in the Barras as part of the ESRC nationwide funded Festival of Social Science.  There was much interest in the display, which sparked debate on how a limited amount of funding should best be spent to tackle alcohol-related issues.  The theme was REDUCING ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION AND ALCOHOL-RELATED HARMS and members of the public were asked  'Which of these policies/interventions do you think is public money best spent on?’Making hard decisions

Approximately 50 people participated (with 3 tokens each) and the number of tokens allocated to each pot was as follows;‌

Alcohol limit for drivers: 32
Minimum unit pricing for alcohol: 26
Counselling to change drinking habits: 70
Beds in intensive care for patients with liver failure: 23
