The retreat took place from 11th to 13th March 2019 and included activities such as canoeing, cycling and fishing as well as presentations from both students and research group members.

Student Rachana Tank reflected on the experience:

"On the first day, UofG intercalated BSc Psychological Medicine students gave presentations of their research projects, followed by questions and feedback in preparation for their final assessments. The second day was spent with each member of the research group taking the spotlight for 10 minutes for a short presentation. Several group members presented recent analyses with UK Biobank data researched and others outlined details of new potential sources of data and future grant application and collaborations. This was a great opportunity to incorporate new concepts, questions, and techniques into the group’s work.

The rest of the afternoon was spent enjoying one another's company and of course outdoor activities! Firbush was able to host kayaking, hill walking, orienteering, mountain biking, and scenic walks. Not deterred by Storm Gareth, the group managed to take advantage of all the activities Firbush had to offer! On the morning of the third day, the group caught their last views of the loch during breakfast in the dining room and reflected on future directions and research plans."
