CALLING ALL PHDS – PAID qualitative research work for PhD Students

The IHW Athena SWAN Staff Consultation Group is looking to recruit 2-3 PhD students with qualitative research experience to complete 2 projects (stress and the workplace, older workers' issues)

The Institute of Health and Wellbeing Athena Swan Staff Consultation Group is looking to recruit PhD students with qualitative research experience for a consultation exercise. As part of ongoing Athena Swan work, we would like 2-3 researchers to complete two qualitative projects.

1. Stress and the workplace

We need a researcher to interview around 30 participants about their experience of stress in IHW. Participants will be from different areas within IHW and across research and professional support staff. We estimate that each interview will take approximately 30 minutes, the interview guide will already be developed in advance for you. You will be paid by the hour and a total of 60-65 hours will be paid, to include writing up a report. The report is due by the end of May 2019. 

2. Older workers report

We need 2 or 3 researchers to interview around 20 older workers (=>50yrs), who will already be identified and recruited. We estimate that each interview will take approximately 30 minutes, the interview guide will already be developed in advance for you. You will be paid by the hour and a total of 45 hours will be paid, to include writing up a report.

Consultation exercise interviews should take place over May and June 2019 and be completed by the end of June 2019. The report should be written up in July 2019 and provided to the Older Workers Group by the end of July 2019.

Written permission to undertake this work must be given by your supervisor.

If any member of staff is interested in being interviewed for either of the above consultations, please let Asha know at asha.costigan@glasgow.ac.uk. Otherwise a range of institute staff will be invited to take part. The consultations are confidential and reports will be anonymised.
