High School of Glasgow pupils visit the Institute

On Thursday 27th March, ICS researchers welcomed a group of 6th form biology advanced higher pupils from the High School of Glasgow to the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre.
On Thursday 27th March, ICS researchers welcomed a group of 6th form pupils to the Wolfson Wohl Cancer Research Centre. Katherine West gave an introduction to the range of cancer research being carried out across Glasgow, and then they toured the laboratories of Joanne Edwards, Paul Sheils and Adam West. PhD students and postdoctoral researchers were on hand to explain aspects of research in a alaboraotry environment. The 21 pupils are studying for their biology advanced higher at the High School of Glasgow, and many are hoping to study Medicine at University. Feedback from the students was extremely positive. Martin Dougall, Principal teacher of Biology at the High School, said “they really enjoyed seeing the day-to-day practice of what they study in school; it's one thing to talk about tissue culture, cancer research and monoclonal antibodies and another to see them in use.”
