Lab Technician's attend conference in Japan
My lab mate Pablo Cabrero and I had the fantastic opportunity to attend and present our work at the Invertebrate Neuropeptide Conference 2020, held this year at Okinawa, Japan between 16th and 20th February, 2020.
Although the threat of the coronavirus epdidemic was looming, we didn't want to give up the opportunity to travel to the land of the rising sun. Taking all precautions, including FFP3 masks, bottles of hand sanitizers and a positive attitute, we flew to Tokyo for an overnight stay and then forwards to Okinawa. We spent a week in Okinawa experiencing a wonderful conference in the company of scientist who are leading experts in their field. Additionally, we had the opporutnity of visiting some of Okinawa's famous tourist destinations including the Nakijin Castle Ruins, the amazing Churami aquarium and the limestone caves at the Okinawa World theme park.
Being the birthplace of Karate, a visit to one of Okinawa's leading Karate Dojo and Museum, the Okinawa Karate Kajkan, on the request of my daughter Anvi, an avit Karateka herself was a must. On the journey back, an overnight stay nin Tokyo, allowed me to do a fantastic city tour and river cruise to take in the sights of this very busy and bustling city. I was very lucky to visit this cultural and traditionally rich and vibrant country.
