Delegation from Mahidol University visit UofG
On Monday 23rd September, University of Glasgow welcomed Prof Pa-thai Yenchitsomanus, Associate Professor Chanitra Thuwajit, Associate Professor Peti Thuwajit and Dr Prapaporn Jungtrakoon from the Faculty of Medicine, Siriaj Hospital at Mahidol Univeristy for continued discussions on the joint PhD programme.
During the visit, the delegation met with various researchers across the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences and visited the facilities at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital as well as opportunity to do some sightseeing of Glasgow attractions!
Mahidol University has a new unit to manage research excellence. It has identified three key research areas: infectious disease (particularly dengue and antimicrobial resistance); cancer (immunotherapy, precision medicine, system pharmacology, breast, rectal, brain and pancreatic cancers) and immunology. These three areas will be the initial focus of the Joint PhD programme. However, in time the programme will cover: regenerative medicine; clinical research and big data.
