Glasgow Science Festival 2019
On June 9th the Institute particpated in Science Sunday, as part of the annual Glasgow Science Festival.
Our theme this year was 'Fantastic Proteins and Where to Find Them'. Children (and some adults!) were tasked to go into our tent and find a protein, from here they would go to our poster and identify their protein with one of the team and then make their protein out of play-doh, put in a petri dish with googly eyes and take home. While creating their very own protein, we explained what the protein was, how it was important to the human body and the life story of that protein. Dr Mathis Riehle also created trump cards which children took away with them.
We also had other activities where particpants had to find antigens with the antibodies, fly dissecting and the first showcase of the new StomaToy!
The day was a huge success and we are already planning our next activity at Explorathon!
