Annual Postgraduate Research Student Symposium
On Tuesday 2nd April we held our annual Postgraduate Symposium, in the Wolfson Medical Building. The audience, packed to capacity in the Yudowitz Lecture Theatre, was treated to a full programme of excellent talks from our 3rd year PhD students. During the breaks we were also able to read the posters prepared by our second year students and discuss their research. After the lunch break we were given an inspirational talk by Professor Shireen Davies, entitled ‘Finding a Path’, in which she led us through her eventful scientific career to date. At the end of the Symposium Professor Bulleid presented a Prize for the best talk, which went to Hannah Donnelly, and the best poster, which went to Ahmed Mokhtar Sidky. Hannah’s Prize is augmented by the generous gift to our Institute of an endowment from the Gibson Research Fund, and we were delighted to host the donor at the Symposium on the day. The prize will contribute to the costs for Hannah to go to an international scientific conference. The day closed with a drinks reception in the atrium of the Wolfson Building. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to making the Symposium a successful event!
