Athena SWAN at the Institute of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology

The Institute of Molecular Cell and Systems Biology is committed to tackling gender inequalities in higher education and promoting equality of opportunity in its activities. We have agreed to support and uphold the principles outlined in the Athena SWAN Charter. In doing so, we aim to create a supportive and inclusive Institute and improve career development and progression of our people, irrespective of gender.

On 28th April 2017 the Institute of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology was awarded a prestigious Athena SWAN Bronze Award. Professor Neil Bulleid, director of IMCSB, said: “The Bronze Athena SWAN award is fantastic news for the Institute of Molecular, Cell and Systems Biology. The Athena SWAN process has dramatically raised awareness of gender equality and we are fully committed and determined to ensure equal opportunities for all staff. The Institute has an inclusive, supportive and vibrant culture, which helps to retain and attract the very best researchers and support staff.”

The Institute Athena SWAN Self Assessment Team have been appointed to analyse and review the Institutes policies and practices to ensure that we uphold the principles outlined in the Athena Swan Charter.
