Member of the 'Polar Bear Management Group' looking at various methods of preventing stereotypic behaviour and its causes. This line of research was administered by UFAW and the Zoo Federation.
Invited member of the International Academy of Animal Welfare Sciences with free membership of the IAAWS providing that I agree to be available to offer advice or provide help to the organisation on matters of animal welfare.
Chairman of Animal Welfare and Ethics Committee. The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland, Edinburgh Zoo.
Assisted with the design for the redevelopment of the Mappin Terraces in London Zoo.
Undertook a joint-consultancy for the design of a bear and wolf enclosure for Woburn Safari Park, 2002.
Member of the Advisory Committee of the Pan Yu Bear Sanctuary, Guangdong Province, China.
Carried out a 5 day consultancy at Norbrook Laboratories, Ireland, organised by Glasgow University Biological Services. The purpose of the consultancy was to train staff in the welfare and behaviour of domestic cats.
