Colette Mair will be speaking on "Risk factors associated with AMR resistance and diversity" on the 18th of December at 12 pm in the GK library

The aim of this work is to identify possible risk factors associated with antimicrobial resistance using E coli isolates from faecal samples collected from a range of species from two distinct ethnic groups in Tanzania. These two ethnic groups are distinct in their farming practices, antibiotic usage and levels of resistance to five antibiotics. In particular, we observe a high level of diversity both within and between ethnic groups and species. Using social-economic survey data collected at a household level, we can model household diversity profiles to identify possible risk factors significant in driving and maintaining resistance to these five antibiotics.
