MINIRESIST: Modelling microbial resistance

The development of antibiotic resistance in bacteria in food production animals poses a potential threat to human health. This research project uses a combination of field data, experimental data and mathematical modelling to formulate alternative treatment-protocols for antibiotic use in pigs. The mathematical models of the development and spread of resistance within a herd of pigs will be used to design protocols that protect the health of the pigs whilst minimising the development of resistance.
