Research study systems
We have established research study systems at SCENE that allow us to address fundamental and applied research questions. Details of these systems, their applications and contacts for further information are provided below. We encourage anyone interested collaborating in the use of these systems and SCENE facilities to get in touch.
We have established an extensive system of almost 500 nest boxes for hole-nesting songbirds, which together with technques for remote monitoring, is ideal for studies of ecology, physiology and genetics of woodland species
We are currently establishing a local system for the study of vector-borne disease in the woodlands surrounding SCENE
We have recently established an urban-rural gradient of nest-boxes for hole-nesting passerines that connects the boxes in the SCENE woodlands to the University of Glasgow’s main campus allowing us to test how this gradient affects variation in biological rhythms, behaviour, physiology and genes
