Approval and review procedure

Approval and review procedure

All Graduate Schools have a local procedure on approving and processing student placement arrangements and a list of approved institutions to which students can be sent on placement. Common features of all Graduate School procedures/regulations include:

  • Any student placement is agreed by the student's supervisor who ensures that records of all details regarding the placement are kept and the relevant people within the Graduate School are informed.
  • A 'Research Furth of Glasgow' placement is normally for a maximum of 12 months in length, but any placement exceeding 1 month normally requires further approval by the Graduate School.
  • A placement can only be arranged at an institution which has been approved by the university.

Graduate Schools should forward details of all institutions, along with the date approved by any College, to the PGR Service (Research Strategy & Innovation Office) on approval/review to ensure that the central list is kept up to date for the benefit of all staff.

This list will be reviewed annually by the Research Policy and Strategy Committee.
