Research interests

I head the Fractured and Geothermal Reservoir Group at the Institute of Geoenergy Engineering (IGE) at Heriot-Watt University where I conduct fundamental and applied research that integrates results from different fields (engineering, geology, physics, chemistry) and across multiple scales (pore, core, well, outcrop, reservoir, and basin) for a range of geoenergy applications, from geothermal energy and natural gas production to CO2 and hydrogen storage.

The overarching aim of my group's research is to enable value-based decision making when managing natural energy resources in (fractured) geological reservoirs and help to provide sustainable, secure, and affordable energy to all while reducing CO2 emissions.
