Research interests

Katriona Edlmann is a geoscientist with 25 years’ experience developing world-leading laboratory facilities to characterise and understand geoenergy resources such as carbon capture and storage, hydrogen storage, energy storage, unconventional hydrocarbons, nuclear waste management, mining and geothermal operations facilitating low carbon energy to achieve net-zero targets.  She has published research on oil and gas resources, capture and storage of CO2 for climate change mitigation and energy storage of hydrogen. She adopts a cross-disciplinary approach through state-of-the-art experiments and benchmarking of numerical modelling to address a variety of environmental engineering problems that tackle the issues of natural resource and energy supply in a responsible and sustainable way.
