Research interests

My main research interest is about sustainable construction. I have worked in different projects about circular economy and recycled materials performance. Specifically, I have worked in projects linked to industry about recycled fresh concrete, C&D waste in concrete mixes and recycled aggregates. Additionally, I have taken independent research about other applications for recycled products such as bottom ash, fused recycled glass or recycled plastics. I am interested in the analysis of waste streams in industry and potential uses as well as up-scaling.

On the other hand, I have worked about life cycle assessment applied to the construction industry. I have developed some independent research about carbon footprint applied to construction products, buildings and even services. I am interested in LCA development and application to the construction industry in all stages and multiple aspects as a strong tool for environmental impact assessment.

Finally, there are more topics which I have worked but not so in depth until now, although I consider they are also very relevant for the construction industry nowadays. Among others, I am interested in the use of green infrastructures in urban areas and buildings, building energy efficiency performance, new and traditional construction methods and materials, building retrofitting, etc.
