Research interests

My main research interests are in carbon and carbonates. In the context of COP26, I am interested in how we can use various geomaterials (particularly iron- and steel-making slags) to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. I use a range of geochemical (stable isotopes, trace element geochemistry) and microscopy (X-Ray Computed Tomography and Scanning lectron Microscopy techniques) to investigate the fundamental processes of mineralisation of atmospheric CO2 through chemical reactio of materials such as slag.
