Research interests

I am an anthropologist of science, technology and infrastructure and have recently published a book based on 10 years of ethnographic research on climate change policy-making, entitled Thinking Like a Climate: Governing a City in Times of Environmental Change.

I study the way that the science of climate change challenges contemporary ways of knowing, organisational culture, bureaucratic practice, activism and engineering cultures and how it is creating the conditions within which new ways of being in the world are being forged.

My research on climate change is focused primarily in the UK and Europe but I have also worked on the cultural politics of road construction in Peru, and studied the social dimensions of digital information systems in urban and organisational settings in the UK and Europe.
