- Professor of Global Change Mapping - University of Edinburgh
I lead a research group that develops and tests new methods for using satellite data to map changes in the worlds forests, woodlands, savannas and peatlands.
In particular, we are interested in:
- mapping the carbon sequestered in tropical forests and peatlands
- and how this is changing due to climate change, recovery from past disturbance, and current disturbance by people.
We're also interested in land use change and land use planning, advising governments, NGOs and companies on the carbon and biodiversity consequences of different forest restoration options.
