I'm a climate modeller, part of the core team responsible for UKESM1, the next-generation UK Earth System model.

In UKESM I lead the work to enable simulations to use interactive models of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets, using the BISICLES adaptive mesh ice model. With this capability, we can understand more about how climate change is driving large-scale mass loss from the ice sheets, and how changes in the ice will affect other parts of the global climate system.

We also need this interactivity to produce more useful projections of future sea-level rise from our global models. UKESM is a joint NERC/MetOffice project.
