Research interests

My research addresses forest ecology and conservation, with a focus on topics that respond to the linked crises of biodiversity loss and climate change.

My theoretical work addresses the mechanisms that maintain species richness in ecological communities, and I apply this knowledge to practical problems of tree species conservation, forest ecosystem management, and nature-based solutions to climate change. I have strong links to major external stakeholders in the global forests sector.
