Research interests

My research focuses on stress eco-physiology, and various aspects of primary producers’ responses to the environment, aiming to reveal traits that permit cryptogams (mainly lichens and mosses) to exist and persist in extreme terrestrial habitats.

My focus, to date, has been on polar ecosystems and I worked predominantly in the Antarctic. With my work, I want to contribute to a better understanding of climate change induced threats for polar ecosystems and their risk assessment
