Dr Carwyn Frost (HI 7) is an Early Career Researcher (ECR) in marine energy at Queen’s University Belfast.
Dr Frost is experienced in CFD modelling and experimental validation of marine renewable technology at both laboratory and field scale. Since appointment to the lectureship in 2018, Dr Frost has led feasibility studies for near-shore marine renewables in Northern Ireland, a collaborative international programme investigating the performance of a bio-inspired rotor designs and has managed the Strangford Lough Tidal Test Site as part of the Marinet2 Trans-national Open Access programme.
Dr Frost is currently a Co-I on the H2020 LiftWEC project (£2.8M) and a member of the IEC Technical Specification development committee for pre-prototype tidal energy converters (TS62600-202).
Prior to his appointment to lecturer, Dr Frost led the industrially focused InvestNI funded TTT3 (£500,000) and TTT3.5 (£150,000) projects as a Research Fellow at QUB. Dr Frost is an active member of the ORE community seeking to support companies in technology development, enabling access to testing facilities and furthering science and innovation in the marine environment.
