Exploration

Ultrasound is used to enhance and assist exploration. Most well known is SONAR for underwater detection and parking sensing, but ultrasound is also used to obtain rock and ice samples in extreme environments from Antartica to other planets. It can assist with fluidisation and breakdown of materials for transport, storage and use.

Many projects, particularly off-world, rely on robotic systems to manipulate and use the ultrasonic tools.
