National Science Foundation, US and other funders

Description: Projects must involve scientists from the US working in collaboration with scientists from the UK, Israel or China. Israeli and Chinese researchers may only be involved in one submitted proposal. There are no restrictions on the PI.

Ecology and evolution of infectious diseases - National Science Foundation, US

Description: The multi-agency Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases program supports research on the ecological, evolutionary, and social drivers that influence the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases. The central theme of submitted projects must be the quantitative or computational understanding of pathogen transmission dynamics.

Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship

Description: The Fellowships are intended to assist those at a relatively early stage of their academic careers, and it is hoped that the appointment would lead to a more permanent position for the individual, either within the same or another institution.

EIC Horizon prize for early warning of epidemics

Description: The challenge is to develop a scalable, reliable and cost-effective early warning system prototype to forecast and monitor vector-borne diseases in order to contribute to the prevention of outbreaks mitigating their impact on local, regional and global scales and providing support to existing elimination efforts.

Description: 
This scheme helps scientists add an international dimension to their BBSRC-funded research by making and establishing new contacts with international counterparts.

BBSRC FAPESP Pump-Priming Awards (FAPPA)

Description: This scheme is run jointly with Brazil's Sao Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) to pump-prime collaborations between scientists in the UK and the Sao Paulo State, Brazil to promote the exchange of scientists and access to facilities and materials.  It encourages applications under the RCUK-FAPESP lead agency agreement.
