Thankfully thefts and hackings are rare, but they can happen. Wherever you’re studying, always be mindful of who might be able to access your devices and other important possessions.
Never leave your laptop, tablet, phone or other belongings unattended in a shared space like a Library or a café.
If you’re working at a shared PC always lock it if you have to step away and log out before you leave.
How to lock a Windows PC:
· Press the Windows logo key and L at the same time, or
· Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete at the same time, then select Lock from the options on screen
Keep your desk clear
Never leave anything containing sensitive or confidential information unattended. That could include notebooks, printed papers, and USB sticks. Make sure to tidy everything away securely when it’s not in use.
