A warmer welcome for students

We have improved Induction and Orientation support for new students, introducing apps for New Student Welcome and Timetable & Roomfinder.

Investment in learning spaces

We invest £1.5m every year across the campus to improve the student experience, including the recent upgrade to Boyd Orr LT1 & 2 and the introduction of Technology-Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) spaces.

Enriched student experience at Kelvin Hall

Our collections-based postgraduate programmes are now delivered in new research and teaching labs, seminar rooms and conference suite at Kelvin Hall.


New café and study space at Garscube

The Mary Stewart Building, a dynamic new space on campus, provides a flexible study/café facility, as seminar room and ten tutorial rooms.

£10m spend on sport facilities

We’ve extended our facilities to provide the best strength and conditioning facility in Scotland, the highest spec Lifefitness equipment, and indoor cycling studio and up to 100 classes per week.

More students go abroad

Our long and established international exchange programme allows many of our students to see the world whilst studying for their degree with our 275 worldwide partners.

New Library study spaces created

We have invested significantly in improving our library, most recently spending over £3.5m to redevelop Levels 1 and 2 to create 240 new spaces for group and individual study.

National Student Survey (NSS)

Issued: Annually, January - April
Eligibilty: Final year Undergraduate students
Purpose: Rate your satisfaction on various aspects of your course, including teaching, academic support, learning resources, student voice and other

Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES)

Issued: Every 2 years, March - May
Eligibilty: Postgraduate Research students
Purpose: Rate your satisfaction on such aspects of your courses as: supervision, resources, research community, progress & assessment and skills & professional development

Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES)

Issued: Annually, March - June
Eligibilty: Postgraduate Taught students
Purpose: Rate your satisfaction on such aspects as: learning and teaching, assessment and feedback, skills development and overall satisfaction
How to take part: Check your inbox for emails from Central Surveys (the University’s survey team). Access the survey via MyGlasgow Student Portal > My Surveys box.

Student Life Survey

Issued: Annually, March - May
Eligibilty: Undergraduate students in years 1 - 3/4 (excluding final year)
Purpose: Rate your satisfaction on degree programme organisation and time management,  learning and teaching, the Library, travel arrangements, Student Services and other aspects of the student experience
How to take part: Check your inbox for emails from Central Surveys (the University’s survey team) and click on the link in your email to complete the survey

Welcome Survey

Issued: Annually, October - November
Eligibility: New Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students (Home, RUK and EU only)
Purpose: Rate your satisfaction levels on applying to the University through to start of your course

If you are eligible for the survey, you will receive an email inviting you to participate. You will access the Welcome Survey via “My Surveys” link on the MyGlasgow Student portal.

The survey will only take a short time to complete and your answers will be kept confidential.

International Student Barometer (ISB)

Issued: Annually, November
Eligibilty: Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught International students
Purpose: Rate your satisfaction on various aspects of your teaching experience - ranging from the application process to your arrival at the University, to learning and living experience

Graduate Outcomes Survey

Issued: To graduates 15 months after graduation.
Eligibility: All Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research graduates.
Purpose: To capture the activities and perspectives of graduates. Your experiences will be used to inspire future graduates, and will help the University to evaluate and promote its programmes.

You will receive an email approximately 15 months after graduation inviting you to complete the survey online. You may also be contacted by telephone and asked to complete the survey over the phone.
