About the HEAR and extra-curricular achievements
All sorts of activities and achievements are recognised by the University and recorded on your HEAR, including:
- Leadership of affiliated clubs and societies
- Completion of workshops and courses designed to enhance your employability
- Academic prizes and medals won in the course of your studies
- Representative roles undertaken through one of the four main student organisations
- Sporting achievements
- Work placements and voluntary roles

Clubs & societies
Clubs and societies
Undertaking a leadership role in any of the SRC and GUSA affiliated clubs and societies will be recorded on your HEAR. The four standard club / society positions recognised are given in more detail below.

President
The President provides overall leadership and steers the club activity. They have ultimate responsibility for its business and need to inspire the other members to make the society a success.
Vice President
The Vice President is responsible for assisting the President in realising the overall aims of the club. By working closely with their fellow Office Bearers, the Vice President assists in the planning and delivery of club activities and provides support where needed. Generally it is only larger clubs who require a Vice President.
Secretary
The Secretary is generally responsible for the organisation and administration of the club. They make meetings, events and elections happen while ensuring compliance with constitutional and affiliate rules.
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for the financial health of the club – they balance the books, set budgets and generally ensure the society has the funds it needs to keep going.

There are all sorts of opportunities to develop your graduate attributes and employability skills while at University - many of them outside of your formal curriculum.
