About Living Support

Your Living Support Team is made up of a Warden, Senior Living Support Assistants (SLSAs) and Living Support Assistants (LSAs). They are current University of Glasgow students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, who live on-site and provide out of hours advice and support to residents. They are fully trained to help in a wealth of scenarios including: 

  • Settling into university life, getting to know your halls and the local area, and home sickness.
  • Health concerns, First Aid, Mental Health First aid, and accessing medical help.
  • Emotional support, course worries, exam stress, and signposting to university services.
  • Noisy neighbours, getting along with flatmates, and fire safety.
  • Arranging emergency repairs out of hours

The Living Support Team also organise regular events for you to meet new people, try new things, and experience what Glasgow has to offer. They want you to make the residence your own and shape the activities that take place, so the team are always keen to know your ideas. They're here to host events that you'd like to see as well as support you to create your own socials for residents of the hall.

The team are on duty from 6pm to 8am (6:30pm at Student Apartments) Monday to Friday and 24 hours at weekends. Outwith these hours your residence's site office team are on hand to assist.

We are looking for people who would made good role models for new students of the university. 

If you are:

  • Passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of other students,
  • A keen 'people person' who gets along well with their peers,
  • Able to work as part of a team and independently using your own initiative,
  • Able to confront other people's poor behaviour in a constructive manner,
  • Hard working and committed to developing your skills,

then you may be just the right person for a Living Support role!

This role would ideally suit students with previous experience of living in university accommodation, or people with previous leadership experience such as school prefects, paired readers, guide and scout leaders, carers, etc.

To qualify for a current Living Support role you must be a University of Glasgow student or staff member.

You do not need to meet the requirements for an accommodation application, meaning students who reside in Glasgow city who would normally not be offered a room, as well as students in senior years of their degrees are eligible.
