Times Higher Education (THE) University of the Year 2020
Often considered the “Oscars of Higher Education”, The Times Higher Education Awards and the main category Times Higher Education University of the Year, is a significant accolade.
This is a fantastic achievement for our Team UofG community, and we hope that you will share the success in your own communications.
These guidelines have been prepared to support you in using the winner assets according to our agreement with Times Higher Education.
When writing about our award in copy, the award title must be written in full:
Times Higher Education (THE) University of the Year 2020.
Example: We are thrilled to have been named Times Higher Education (THE) University of the Year 2020.
Award logo conditions of use
We are now entitled to use the award logo across all communications until the end of the current awards cycle (November 2021).
Once the 2021 winner is announced in November 2021, we are no longer permitted to use the title.
- A video with the winner’s award logo uploaded to YouTube would not need to be removed or edited as the published date would confirm that the video was produced within the fair use period.
- A third-party website displaying the winners’ logo would need to be updated at the end of award cycle. Copy can still refer to the award by referencing the year in which the title was valid, eg Times Higher Education (THE) University of the Year 2020.
- A banner stand with the winners’ logo on it would need to be replaced.
The award logo
There are two versions of the logo provided in EPS and PNG files. These are transparent files intended for you to overlay onto design work.
As is the case with all design work, the THE logo should never compete with the main University marque. In square and rectangular formats, where space allows, the logo must be placed in the bottom right of your digital or print communication.
In print, the size of the THE logo should balance with WCG & WCW marketing messages.
The External Relations Marketing Communications Team will issue guidance to our LOT 1 and LOT 2 designers.
You can choose to display the award as part of your email signature and there are two options for doing so.
Option 1: Download the email signature banner, insert it at the bottom of your email signature, and hyperlink it to the corresponding UofG awards webpage.
Option 2: Add the line Winner of the Times Higher Education University of the Year Award 2020 and hyperlink to the corresponding UofG awards webpage.
