Do you love to ski, snowboard, or socialise? Then Glasgow University Ski & Snowboard Club (GUSSC) is the club for you – whether you've never seen snow before, are looking to smoke national competitions, or are just interested In Glasgow's best student nights out.
Competing
GUSSC has three competitive teams – race, freestyle ski, and freestyle snowboard. The club boasts national success across the British Universities Snowsports circuit. The main competitions are SUDS and BUDS where GUSSC has historically dominated. However, we are always on the lookout for fresh talent. We host weekly training sessions so go ahead and try out for the team!
Our trials are in September – post freshers' week craze, don't miss it!
Training
If competition isn't for you, we organise lessons for complete beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. We hit the indoor Snowdome at Braehead throughout the year, to ski, board and party with other Scottish Unis. We also run lessons at the dry slope at Bellahouston Park. As soon as the snow starts falling we run trips North to the Highland ski areas, where GUSSC members can enjoy the Scottish Alps for what they have to offer. GUSSC hosts the legendary annual ski trip to the Alps in January, open to all members. The ski trip is the best week of the uni calendar so become a member and join us in the Alps! You won’t regret it.
Joining & Social
GUSSC is fundamentally a social club – hosting club nights and large socials across campus. With over 700 members every year, we host the biggest socials at the Uni. Our infamous Cheese & Wine social in October dominates the social calendar where members flood the GUU for the ski trip release and sign up. Become a member for entry to Cheese & Wine.

How to Join
Joining a GU Sports Club is a simple, three-step process:
- Join UofG Sport with one of these three memberships only:
- Student Sport 12-month Full-Access (£170)
- Student Sport Semester Full-Access (£99)
- Student Sport Accommodation 12-month Full-Access (£120)*
- Contact the Club about what membership type you should select (if you're unsure) or if you have any questions
- Use the Club Management Portal to join the Club online
You'll need your UofG Sport Member ID to join a Club. Here's where to find your Member ID.
* Discounted Accommodation membership is only available to students living in UofG Accommodation, and is not available for online purchase – please join at Front Desk at the Stevenson Building.
