American Football

GU Tigers | Founded 1986

The Tigers

Established in 1986, the Glasgow University Tigers are historically one of Glasgow's most successful sports teams. The team competes in a competitive BUCS league against teams from both Scotland and England, with the potential to reach playoffs in the spring.

American Football

American Football is a team sport that tests players both physically and mentally. With a wide range of positions to choose from, American Football is accessible for people of all body types.

The Tigers are also a mixed gender team, and pride themselves on their inclusivity and team ethic.

Aside from playing the sport, the Tigers also have a very active social presence around the university. Whether it be sports association events, joint socials and parties with other sports teams, or even team-building nights out, there are always opportunities to be social through the team!

Training takes place at Garscube Sports Complex.

There is no prior knowledge of the sport needed in order to join the team and all kit is provided to registered players. There are no tryouts for the team, but a commitment to attending training is encouraged. So if you’re interested in playing for the team, come along to one of our training sessions and play some ball!

For those who have never played the sport before, there is also a taster session at the start of the Autumn term, to give you the chance to see if you enjoy the sport. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us by email.
