My role is to support the development and implementation of the University’s research-related strategies, policies and associated initiatives by carrying out data analysis and reporting. Working together with Colleges and other University Services, I am responsible for analysing, presenting and advising on data from internal and external systems to 1) support the development, implementation and monitoring of strategies and policies related to research 2) facilitate our institutional preparations for REF2021 and 3) undertake benchmarking activities in support of the enhancement of institutional research excellence.

Background
Melissa obtained a MSci in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry from the University of Strathclyde in 2008, followed by a PhD in Analytical Chemistry also at the University of Strathclyde. Between September 2012 and December 2016, she worked at the Royal Society of Chemistry, first as a graduate trainee then as a Business Intelligence Executive. She joined the University in December 2016.
