Debra Stuart is responsible for the development and management of the University’s research governance systems. She acts to ensure that these fit seamlessly within the procedures developed through Glasgow Biomedicine and fulfil the University’s obligations under the Research Governance Framework for Health and Community Care (2006), The Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004, the Human Tissue Act, and all other relevant legislation.

Background

Debra obtained her PhD in Molecular Carcinogenesis at the University of Glasgow in 1995. She then spent a number of years as a research scientist within the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research and the Medical Oncology Dept at the University of Glasgow. Recently she completed an MA in Biotechnological Law and Medical Ethics at Sheffield University. Prior to joining the University Debra worked as a senior regulatory consultant within the regulatory affairs Dept of a large Contract Research Organisation.
