Graduation ceremony postponement

In the unlikely event of postponement or cancellation of the graduation ceremony, the University will endeavour to communicate this on its website and by contacting attending students.

Under no circumstances shall the University be liable for any actual or alleged loss by the ticket holder or another arising from the cancellation or postponement on the event.   This includes but is not limited to travel, accommodation and subsistence costs or any loss of business or earnings due to the cancellation or postponement of the graduation.

The University reserves the right to refuse admission.

At the graduation ceremony, you must wear the gown and carry the hood appropriate to the degree you are to receive (hats are not worn).

The University does not provide gowns and hoods.

Gown hire

You can hire a gown and hood from Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd. - the robe maker appointed by the University.

Hire your robes as soon as possible, and not later than three weeks before the ceremony. You do not need to wait until you have enrolled for graduation to order your robes.

Print out your order confirmation and take it with you when you collect your outfit on the day of your ceremony.

Ceremony tickets

Each graduand will receive tickets for two guests to attend the ceremony. You may apply for extra tickets when you complete enrolment. 

There is no guarantee that extra tickets will be available. If you have been successful in the ballot we will notify you of the outcome of your application, by email, after the ballot has taken place.

If you make travel, accommodation or other arrangements on the assumption of obtaining extra tickets, you are doing so at your own risk.

The University does not accept liability for any actual or alleged loss that may result in the event that extra tickets are unavailable.

The University does not accept responsibility to replace lost, damaged or stolen tickets.


Singapore campus

Gowns:

At the graduation ceremony, you must wear the gown and carry the hood appropriate to the degree you are to receive.  This service is provided by Serangoon Broadway and information is available at Singapore Gownhire


Dumfries campus

Academic dress/robe hire

At the graduation ceremony, graduands, whether or not already graduates, wear the gown and carry the hood appropriate to the degree which they are to receive (hats are not worn). 

You can hire a gown and hood from Ede & Ravenscroft Ltd. - the robe maker appointed by the University.

If you have not already done so, please hire your gown and hood immediately. 

Print out your order confirmation and take it with you when you collect your outfit on the day of your ceremony.

What to wear:

  • Male graduands: dark suit with a white shirt and black tie; black shoes.
  • Female graduands: dark skirt or trousers and white blouse (tie, if worn, black) or a white or dark dress; black shoes.

If you wish, national dress (including the kilt, with dark jacket and plain hose) may be worn.

Guest tickets

Each graduand will receive tickets for two guests to attend the ceremony. You may apply for up to 3 additional tickets via MyCampus when you enrol to graduate.

Additional tickets are allocated via a lottery system, should that prove necessary. Please note the submission of a request for additional tickets does not guarantee that you will be allocated extra tickets. Guest tickets are distributed at registration on the day of your graduation.

The University accepts no responsibility to replace lost, damaged or stolen tickets.

Post-graduation reception

At the Dumfries Campus graduation ceremony, a post-graduation reception at Rutherford/McCowan Building is being arranged.

We will contact those students attending the ceremony in due course with fuller details and information on how to request tickets.
