Main campus


Parking in the vicinity of the University will be difficult, especially on weekdays. No parking will be available on campus on weekdays.

Please consider using public transport to get to the University.    Useful Transport Information.

Blue Badge parking

We are able to arrange parking on campus for guests who are blue badge holders.  

If you have a blue badge and need a parking space on campus to enable you to attend a graduation ceremony, please:

Disability support

Support for students

If you think that you:

  • may experience difficulty sitting for the duration of the graduation ceremony, or
  • may experience mobility problems, or
  • if you have any other concern about the arrangements for your graduation,

download and complete the Disabled Access Form and return to us no later than 10 days before your graduation ceremony.

Support for guests

The graduation ceremonies take place in the Bute Hall of the University located on level 4 of the main Gilbert Scott Building. Level 4 is accessible by staircase but elderly or disabled guests may find it easier to use the lift located outside the University Visitors Centre (A11 on the Campus Map).

You must request appropriate tickets for your guests with breathing and mobility difficulties when you register on the day of your ceremony.

Graduation Services & Masses

University Chapel Graduation Service

The Chancellor and Vice Chancellor welcome graduands, staff, family and guests to this short ecumenical Service of Thanksgiving in the beautiful University Chapel before the graduation ceremony at:

  • 0930 (for 1100 ceremonies)
  • 1030 (for 1200 ceremonies) and
  • 1445 (for 1600 ceremonies).

The service will last no longer than 15 minutes. Graduands should wear their gown (but not the hood) at this Service.

Roman Catholic Mass of Thanksgiving

Graduands, staff, family and guests are welcome to join the Graduation Mass of Thanksgiving at: 13.05pm at Turnbull Hall, 15 Southpark Terrace.

Graduation Memorabilia

The University Gift Shop sells a range of gifts to celebrate your graduation and remind you of your time at University.

You can choose from a selection online at: www.glasgow.ac.uk/shop for worldwide delivery, or free collection on campus.

Graduation bestsellers include:

  • Degree certificate frames, mounts and folders
  • Class of 2017 hoodies and tshirts
  • Graduation teddy bears
  • Photograph frames with the University crest
  • Official University graduate scarves and ties
  • Cufflinks, pins, tie slides and pendants

As well as a range of other prints, books, gifts, chocolates and souvenirs.

The shop at The Hunterian art gallery also sells a range of great gifts, souvenirs and jewellery and specialises in Charles Rennie Mackintosh and the Glasgow Style.
