Graduation day

If you do not attend at the time stated you may not be permitted to graduate.

If you enrol to attend your graduation ceremony and fail to turn up on the day without prior notification to the Registry, your graduation will be treated as in-absentia.

There are no cloakroom facilities available on the day of your graduation.     However, a Bag Drop Off area has been arranged and this will be located at the North Front of the University close to the Memorial Gates as large bags will not be allowed in Bute Hall.

Main campus

Ceremonies Commencing at 11.00

Arrive at the University, Main Building (queue in the cloisters), to register for the ceremony, collect your guest tickets, your gown and hood.

10.00

Assemble for the ceremony as stated in the Summary of Proceedings which you will receive when you register.

10.30

Guests admitted to the Bute Hall.

Rutherford/McCowan Building

Registration and collection of guest tickets by graduands (foyer area).  You must register at the time stated.  If you do not, you may not be permitted to graduate.  Followed by collection of robes from Room 232.

13.15 Graduands and all other students participating in the ceremony, to return to Rutherford/McCowan Building (foyer area).
13.25 Graduands and all other students participating in the ceremony to depart in procession from the Rutherford-McCowan Building for the Crichton Memorial Church where they will be shown to their seats.

Guests admitted.

14.00 Ceremony commences.
15.00 approx. Ceremony concludes. Academic procession, including students from the church to the Rutherford-McCowan Building where light refreshments will be served (where applicable).

Other matters

The graduation ceremony will last approximately one hour and refreshments will be served afterwards at the Rutherford-McCowan Building.

Toilets are available, including disabled persons toilets, at all levels in the Rutherford-McCowan Building, Dumfries Campus (a toilet is also available in the church).

If you do not want to be included in these publications, please ensure you note this in the appropriate place when enrolling to graduate.
