SFC Over recruitment thresholds

Universities should not exceed their student numbers for consolidation, for non‐controlled and controlled subjects, by more than the tolerances set out below. The purpose of this condition of grant is to ensure that universities conform to the Scottish Government’s consolidation policy by limiting the numbers of full‐time undergraduate students eligible for funding across all years.

Non-controlled subjects (Undergraduate full-time Scots and non-UK EU (excludes all RUK)

There is a 10% threshold for over recruitment.

Controlled subjects (Scots, Other EU and RUK)

There is a 10% or 10 FTE places threshold for over recruitment (whichever is larger). 

However for Dentistry, threshold for over recruitment is 5%.

For Medicine, over recruitment is measured against Intake for all Scots/EU/RUK, rather than overall funded places. There is no threshold for overrecruitment.
