The 100 Santa Sacks Challenge needs you!

The 100 Santa Sacks Challenge 2017 wants your help to raise festive fare for local elderly people. Deadline: Friday 15 December.

The 100 Santa Sacks Challenge 2017 wants your help to raise festive fare for local elderly people and compete against Glasgow Caledonian and Strathclyde to see who can collect the most items with the last day to donate Friday December 8 2017.

Now in its third year and supported by all four UofG student unions, The The 100 Santa Sacks Challenge 2017 calls upon staff and students at the University to give generously to elderly members of the community over the festive period by donating non-perishable items.

In 2016, UofG were narrowly defeated by Glasgow Caledonian who collected 1114 items to UofG's 1051 - so this year all is to play for if UofG are to take home the title.

Items typically requested include:

UHT Milk, tea, coffee, tinned fruit, cereals, non-perishable Christmas food, and toiletries.

You can drop off your items across the campus at the following points:

  • UofG SRC Welcome Point
  • Stevenson Building
  • Gregory Building, Entrance & 5th Floor, Room 507
  • Glasgow University Union (GCU)
  • Queen Margaret Union  (QMU)

Collection closes: Friday 15 December

This initiative is supported and endorsed by Woodside Community Council, the North West Area Partnership and local businesses.  The aim is to provide 120 Santa Sacks to the Fred Paton Centre whose main remit is to tackle social isolation in the elderly, a sheltered housing complex and a care home, all within the West End of Glasgow.

Any further questions should be directed to organiser Jacqueline McKie
