Prof MacLean appointed VP (Life Sciences) of RSE

News of a Royal Society of Edinburgh appointment for Professor Mandy MacLean.
Professor Mandy MacLean, Professor of Pulmonary Pharmacology at the Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences, has been appointed the next Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE) Vice-President (Life Sciences).
Her election was confirmed at the Annual Statutory Meeting on 30 October, where the President, Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, offered her congratulations. Mandy will take up this role in April 2018.
Mandy was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2013 and served on a sectional committee, is a Trustee and Council member of the RSE, a member of the RSE Fellowship committee and sits on the Scottish Crucible Fellowship panel for the RSE.
Speaking about the appointment, Prof MacLean said: “I am delighted that the RSE and Fellowship have appointed me to this position, which is an honour and a privilege.
“I am looking forward to serving the RSE and representing the Life Sciences for Scotland’s National Academy.”
