Technician Commitment aims to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technical staff in HE and research

The Technician Commitment is a UK-wide initiative to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for all technicians working in higher education and research across all disciplines.

With over 630 highly trained and qualified technicians at Glasgow, they make up a significant proportion of our University community, making a vital contribution to research, the training of PhD and postdoctoral researchers, and undergraduate teaching.

A video has now been launched featuring technicians from across the University, talking about their work and why the Technician Commitment is important for the future of this specialist resource.

The video also features the Principal, Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, and Professor Frank Coton, Vice Principal (Academic and Educational Innovation) who both offer their wholehearted support for the initiative and for the professional expertise of technical staff across the University.
