Return to campus update for colleagues

Further guidance for teaching and office-based staff on working from campus

While there is some teaching already happening on our campuses, in addition to ongoing research and support activities, we expect to see an increase in the numbers of colleagues returning to campus over coming weeks to restart more teaching and office-based work.

With that in mind, we would like to highlight the following guidance which aims to support hybrid and on-campus working, while ensuring the ongoing safety of our community.

  • Managing class behaviours [PDF] - This guidance was initially prepared last year for members of staff who were teaching and supporting learning in person on campus, and also online, to support positive behaviours and interactions during teaching and support for learning.  It has been updated to align with the current Scottish Government requirements and additional University guidelines in relation to distancing and face coverings. There is more information about learning and teaching on the Project Aurora webpages.

Return to teaching spaces and offices

Colleagues will increasingly work from campus for teaching, research and office activities.

Teaching spaces with fixed seating will have useable seats clearly identified. Teaching spaces with moveable furniture have been set out with seats up to the maximum 1m distance room capacity and will be laid out at 1m distance at the start of each day. If furniture is subsequently moved during the course of a class, the users are requested to reset before they leave. All teaching rooms will have a note of the max capacity on the entrance door.

Last week we circulated an update on how we have been working to prepare teaching spaces and offices ahead of the start of term, including the work to enhance ventilation across our estate. Following this process all rooms and spaces on our campuses have been reviewed and assessed as suitable for use, with restrictions on activities and occupation levels implemented where required. Please refer to our ventilation FAQs for more information. If you share an office and require quiet space from which to teach, it is possible to book space on campus using the UofG Life App.

You can raise queries about your workspace and safety arrangements, via your line manager or Head of Professional Services. For assistance or to report faults in any specific rooms or spaces, please contact the Estates Helpdesk or call 0141 330 6000.

There is guidance for managers on supporting the return to campus for colleagues on our HR Coronavirus Information for Staff.
